The "Grandma's House" Checklist: 3 Things You Need to Buy for Her

Visiting the grandparents is great… until you have to pack the car. You spend an hour loading the stroller, the travel crib, the high chair, and the toys, only to realize you forgot the diapers.

If you visit Grandma often (more than once a month), stop hauling gear. Ask for these 3 items as "early birthday gifts" and leave them at her house forever.

1. The "Pack 'n Play" (Portable Crib). You don't need a full wooden crib at Grandma's. A basic Playard folds up into a closet when you aren't there. It doubles as a safe place to put the baby down when Grandma needs to cook.

2. A Cheap High Chair Don't buy a fancy one. Get the $20 IKEA chair or a simple Booster Seat that straps to her dining chairs. It saves you from feeding the baby on your lap (and ruining your jeans).

3. The "Emergency" Diaper Stash: Buy one box of diapers and a pack of wipes to keep under her sink. Because the one time you forget the diaper bag will be the time the baby has a blowout.
